[Kenwood] Duty Cycle

Greetings,
    I realize this may open a can of worms, but does anyone know for sure
what the transmit duty cycle is for a Kenwood TS-870 operating digital modes
via a sound card? Is it 50% or higher. The reason I ask is I was on 20
meters play RTTY and an LU could not copy me at 20 watts. I cranked it up to
100 watts and he had no trouble. I would rather run at low wattage but
whatever it takes to make the QSO. All help on this is appreciated.
