[Kenwood] My TS440 Must Warm Up!

I'm trying to help a friend get back on the air with a newly acquired, but
previously little used 440.

From a room temperature start, the radio must sit powered up for about
fifteen minutes before it will receive any signals. During the warm up, you
get a display, and receiver hash, but no signal.

I'm hoping that the problem is simply a loose connector or mounting screw on
some board.

Anyone have thoughts about where to begin checking?
