[Kenwood] Help with TS180s DFC 180 unit

Has anyone had a problem with a DFC180 on a Kenwood TS180S radio not storing 
or holding memory.
All other functions of the DFC unit work.
The VFO etc.
However, when I try to store a memory I get a conformation tone but no memory 
is stored.
I bought a CPU for unit but problem still going on with new chip.
I also bought a RAM chip but have not put it in radio yet because I don't 
think it is the problem since the CPU should store a freq. and only transfer 
it to outboard RAM when power goes off.
I have cleaned all contacts and have shotguned soldered both boards in the 
DFC unit.
I have asked before about this problem on the reflector with no luck. I hope 
this time is the charm.
