Rob, you were just in the wrong government job. K4VX was a PVRC member
when his CIA job was based in Washington. He was on a long job in
moderately hostile territory back in the 70s. Mission: covertly looking
for radio intelligence from Baikonur Cosmodrome. Lots of frequency-agile
equipment at his disposal. One day he realized it was the PVRC QSO Party
and tuned one of the idle rxs to 15m cw. Lotsa Party activity. After a
while he got itchy hands and tuned up the xmtr. A buddy in VA called CQ
and Lew answered "VX/YA" The guy comes back "TNX LEW 599 GRAYSON NICE
MULT TOO BAD I CANT LOG U"
I don't suppose that QSO Simulator would have kept him radio-silent --
maybe we should ask him :-)
