Rob, you were just in the wrong government job.  K4VX was a PVRC member
when his CIA job was based in Washington. He was on a long job in
moderately hostile territory back in the 70s.  Mission: covertly looking
for radio intelligence from Baikonur Cosmodrome.  Lots of frequency-agile
equipment at his disposal. One day he realized it was the PVRC QSO Party
and tuned one of the idle rxs to 15m cw. Lotsa Party activity. After a
while he got itchy hands and tuned up the xmtr.  A buddy in VA called CQ
and Lew answered  "VX/YA"  The guy comes back "TNX LEW 599 GRAYSON  NICE
MULT TOO BAD I CANT LOG U"

I don't suppose that QSO Simulator would have kept him radio-silent --
maybe we should ask him  :-)
