To all,

I hope this goes to the reflector.

First of all, I'm not sure my comments are of any value to any of you
since I did not have the opportunity to operate at the AE9B contest site
this past weekend. I centainly would have, but I knew this weekend was
full many weeks ago. I hope to make it next time. My congratulations
go out to the entire effort and everyone involved.

From the reflector emails, I count 3 logs from KCDXC members----K0XM and
KR0I. That is enough to make the "club" score for the KCDXC. If I had
known 3 logs were required, I would have made contacts in the middle of
the night to make the scores count as a club. The club used to have a
person to collect scores and publish in the newsletter. Many reasons
may be contributing to the lack of interest in contests over the last
couple of years. Some of them as I have seen and heard are:
More than usual commitments to work and/or family.
Storm damage to antennas or antenna farms.
Some antenna farms and contest stations not existing now as before in
the area.
Age of members increasing every day. (This one sucks for all of us) We
all need new and young members

I have been a KCDXC member for many years and always thought the club
was BOTH for DX and contesting. I'm very neutral about the SMC, who
belongs from this area, what they do. Not being a part of the effort as
stated, I sure thought this effort was a KCDXC effort---even though not
all ops belonged to the club. In my opinion, this should NOT be changed
after the fact UNLESS the scores and effort would otherwise go to
waste. I suggest this issue be made clear PRIOR to the next operation.
I talked in person last night to K0SZE. He really enjoyed the time he
was there and being part of a large KCDXC club effort. He also stated
that the Jo Co Club would probably never put the effort into the same.

I don't want to get into politics or disagree with anyone, but I hope I
read results in the magazine under KCDXC.

Thanks,
