I find it very interesting that so many people.. some I have never met..
some that are not even dues paying members.. some members I have never seen
at a meeting... take such a strong stance on something in some cases they
didn't even participate in. For a couple years now I have been trying to
stir up the thick blood and see if there's any life left in this club. I
have talked with Lee about this "at length". I have assisted in the
newsletter. I have become an active member. There will be a club meeting
soon.. I suggest if you want your voice heard you attend the meeting and
have your dues paid. It's easy to throw words out on a reflector. It is nice
to see a little life. There has been more discussion of this than any other
thing since I've been on the reflector. I'm glad there's some interest...
now if we can just get some activity. With 72 members on the club "E-Roster"
we should be able to get more than a few club members to participate in
EVERY contest. I must say that if the effort required to pull teeth and get
participation for every contest is as difficult as it was for the WPX
contest.. I wont be the dentist for long. If you feel so strongly about the
KCDXC contest results.. I recommend you get involved and start organizing.

I'm not sure why I feel so strongly on this subject except to say that I
have tried now for almost a year to see if contest activity was (or more
accurately) IS part of the KCDXC (I know all about the past efforts,
congrats to them). I, and a few others have become part of the SMC and even
helped start a "WEST" branch. I attended meetings, made presentations, and
basically got little or no support for contesting as an entity of the KCDXC.
Nobody was against the efforts of SMC West and a few guys signed up. I am a
member of both clubs.. I participate ACTIVELY in both clubs.. I speak with
an informed view.. I am proud and happy that the KCDXC is wanting to claim
this score.. but if it ends here.. if this is the only effort the KCDXC will
be giving for the next few years.. it is a wasted effort. On the other
hand.. if someone wants to begin organizing a regular effort on behalf of
the local club, where have you been? Please come to the meeting and let's
hash this out.

I'm still inclined to just leave the club affiliatioon off and credit the
guys who participated. After all it was a mixed bag effort. The Johnson
County guys, SMC guys, KCDXC guys.. and for the record there were more "GO
SMC" comments during the contest (participation does matter) than any other.

KEEP THE BLOOD FLOWING
Even if you have to stir the pot..
