[K6BW] Activity at the clubhouse this weekend

Friday evening, tackled the spaghetti factory which has been working
overtime to tangle the cables behind the operating tables. Straightened out
a lot of the wiring and located and labeled ends of mysterious coax. There
are still a couple of mysteries, for example the 160 antenna feed (think it
is a cable that is routed to where Dave set up his station) and the cable
that extends to the Boy Scout operating position.

Dave installed so many antennas that we have run out of positions on the
coax patch bay. The white plastic panel which held the coax fittings was
sagging anyway, so yesterday one excursion was made to HSC for additional
barrel connectors and another to Tap Plastic to locate a larger and stronger
panel. With the help of Frank, W6DXA's step-drill, holes were punched in
the new panel and we now have a 36-position patch bay. 18 antenna locations
and 18 equipment locations, with a few borrowed for antenna tuners. There
are spare positions, but it is amazing how quickly it is filling up.

Does anyone have a label machine? Omar KQ6IG (who may be returning after a
stint in Los Angeles) labeled the previous panel, but new labels are needed.

Also, don't know if you have noticed but the days are truly getting shorter.
We have several antennas down which should be put up before the weather
turns.

I hope to be at the clubhouse this afternoon, perhaps sometime after 12:00
noon. If you have any extra time today, wonder if you could join us.
Perhaps we can take an inventory and see what needs to be done to put the
antennas back in the air.

If you'd like to call the clubhouse, the number is 382-8135 and my number is
415-456-4481. I'll also be listening to the 146.775 repeater if you'd like
to make contact there.
