The 2003 Northern California Regional MARS Conference was held at Bldg. 549
today. We had more than 25 attendees from all over Northern California
(And a great lunch).
One of the MARS members researched equipment which was listed on the power
panel in the meeting room. Here is what he found. Building 549 used to
house at least two of these stations.
Communications System, AN/GRC-129
The AN/GRC-129 is a one kilowatt PEP SSB communications system operating
over .a frequency range of 2-30 MHz. By incorporating SSB capability, this
system claims a two-to-one advantage over AM systems.
It consists of a modified AN/GRC-26D that transmits and receives SSB, AM,
CW, and FSK. The AN/GRC-129 communications system uses a pair of R-1247
receivers, a pair of CV-1694 SSB demodulators and a T-946 transmitter for HF
SSB and RTTY operation.
Anyone have one in their garage they'd like to donate? :-)
