Thanks to Jack Troup, we now have all the pieces assembled to erect the =
tower. The tower base assembly will allow us to move the tower parallel =
to the north side of the building, then use nearby trees to hoist the =
tower into a vertical position.
There are still "issues" we need to resolve. We are planning to meet at =
9:00am this Saturday to take on this activity. Here is a short list:
(1) We need to set a guy anchor down the hill from the north side of the =
building. This entails digging a hole and setting a guy anchor.
(2) Another anchor needs to be installed behind the telephone pole on =
the east side of the building. We plan to use the telephone pole as one =
of the guy points, but the pole itself needs to be guyed.
(3) The cable crank on the tower needs to be checked, de-rusted and =
painted, and greased. The pulleys mounted on tower sections need to be =
greased.
(4) We have a good length of rotor cable, but it is old and sections are =
bad. It needs to be stretched out and verified (any) remaining good =
section will be long enough to reach between the rotor and the operating =
position.
(5) The rotor itself has been checked (I think). It probably should be =
rechecked.
(6) A thrust bearing assembly needs to be mounted on a plate on the top =
of the tower.
(7) The pole which extends from the rotor needs to be measured to make =
sure the antenna can be properly mounted on the pole.
(8) We need to find coax to connect to the beam. We have a balun. =20
(9) The antenna should be tested before it is installed on the tower.
(10) I forget, but we'll likely add to this list on Saturday.
(11) We need to borrow dollies and two heavy block and tackle rigs to =
raise the tower.
(12) Trees will need trimming.
Can you help?
