A reporter from the Novato Advance called yesterday to set up an interview
for a newspaper article regarding the Emergency Program we are conducting
with the Novato Fire Department HEART program. We are offering amateur
radio license preparation and communications training in conjunction with
Novato Fire Department's training program in basic fire safety, first-aid,
and search and rescue. These programs are designed to help people in
neighborhoods assist in the event of a major earthquake, fire or other
disaster where help may not be available for up to 72 hours after the event.
They apologized for not responding sooner (classes begin at the end of the
month), but would like to get the story in the paper as soon as possible.
They would also like to take color pictures of our young amateurs to include
in the article. If you, or your sons/daughters would like to participate,
please call me at 415-456-4481 today, as they would like to send out a
photographer this afternoon/evening. I know this is short notice, and I
hope we can pull this out of the rabbit-hat.
A small work party appears to be forming to put the GE XT-1A (the monster AM
transmitter) back together again. We're meeting Friday nights, sometime
after 6:00pm. Wear old clothes. If you plan to get your picture taken
tonight for the newspaper, wear clothes with bright, primary colors (yellow,
red, green). No t-shirts with logos. Bring your radios. :-)
