[K3PZN-List] Raspberry Pi Update 2016-0207

Thank you for the compliment, Pat, but I am far from an expert with
Raspberry Pis and Linux. I merely followed the step-by-step
instructions I found on the raspberrypi.org site help/documentation
sections. I'm still trying to learn a bit of linux. And, I have not
used fldigi on vhf FM and sent files and pictures with MT63 before, so,
hope some of the ARES experts will step in and help the Raspberry Pi users.

For example, Saturday morning of the snow storm, I had a lot of MT63
data captured in the receive window of FLDIGI and I still have no idea
how to capture it and store in a file under Linux. In Windows, I would
just highlight, copy, and paste in Wordpad. I'm sure that can be done
in Linux but I haven't learned how, yet.

So, I'm no further in the learning process than most in the Raspberry Pi
group.

I will bring tonight my Raspberry Pi and FT897 rig and demo, if anyone
is interested. Maybe someone can enlighten us on how to use FLDIGI and
MT63 as they are being used by the ARES folks.

The meeting will start promptly at 7:30 PM, so let's hope traffic (and the rumor of snow tomorrow) don't slow us down tonight! If others drop by early too then that will be nice! (I am not an expert. Not like Pete, who has had a bunch of successes recently!)

Let's tackle any problem anyone is having as far as getting Raspbian Jessie up and running and getting the FLdigi software configured. Once that is done then we can talk about the radio interface issues, especially exactly which USB sound cards work and which ones do not.
