Hello Raspberry Pi experimenters,

I got my Pi running FLdigi last weekend, at least the software part of it -- and it
looks really interesting from the last time I used the program long ago. It has
gotten a lot better! And a lot more modes of communication!

FLdigi is a MUST-HAVE for every ham!!!

I used the "Sean Method" to install it, even before I read his message. Refer
to what he and I said in the reflector archives (above references) if needed.

Next step: we each ought to tap the audio from a receiver - any receiver or
transceiver -- to see how well one or more of the comm modes decode the
audio to characters on the Pi screen. Then, on to more completely interface
the radio of your choice, HF or VHF/UHF, SSB or FM.

Since the Raspberry Pi is so small and I have a very small dual-band HT, I plan
to start there. I am thinking picnic tabletop ops at first. Your mileage may
vary.

Our next Raspberry Pi "help" gathering is immediately before and after the
next CCARC general club meeting on Monday, February 8, as described
previously.

Until then, help is only an e-mail, a web browse or phone call away. Lot's
of good help at www.RaspberryPi.org too.

I offer my list of club members who have expressed any kind of interest in
the Raspberry Pi or Raspbian (or Debian or Ubuntu) Linux in the past month.
See our growing list below. Let's feel free to ask for support from each other,
especially from those who live near each other!

For example, there is an outside chance that Dave N3ZPC, Kyle KC3FMP
and I might meet together at a place between Sykesville and Mount Airy
sometime before the next CCARC meeting, but no details have been
finalized yet.

There is always room for more interested individuals to join us too.

Good luck in the "contest" and see you soon!

Cheers,

Pat
