Folks;

Hurricane Sandy is being closely watched by the Carroll County Office  
of Emergency Management. Currently the hurricane is expected to  
influence our weather between Sunday afternoon and Monday evening.  
Here are some details that were provided in the county's briefing:

Sunday afternoon -> Monday night

Potential for heavy rain
Confidence increased over past 48 hours
3” – 6” rain
Worst case scenario is 8” – 10”

Damaging winds
Sustained 35 - 45mph +
Gusts 60mph +
Widespread, long lasting power outages possible

Snow is possible at the end of the storm

Power outages could last several days

National Weather Service advise
“Prepare for high impact event Sunday through Tuesday”

We may be asked to provide staffing / support to the EOC and to  
shelters during this period.

ARES/RACES members should review their pre-activation checklists. Make  
sure your batteries are charged, and that you have taken appropriate  
steps to take care of yourself and your families.

Also - please closely monitor the 145.410 Carroll County repeater  
system for any updates.
