Pete and Andy

thanks for info.

actually all we have we heard last nite. I conclude it is TBD whether the YL can send CW - both mechanically and perceptively after learning it. sounds like after we gather our resources and info one of us will need to call Bob Rhodes K3JAN.

yes i was also thinking of your touch paddles as a possibility also - although if she can use the physically moving paddles that may be easier! also TBD.

if we get past the basics VME has plenty of experts - but sounds like they have not used CW before. of course a 20-year old YL can likely learn CW so we ought to give it some attention.

we know that Bob lives in Westminister, no clue where patient lives. its possible we may just need to to deliver 'the goods' to evaluate - but you never know. if she ends up being able to use CW to communicate to family members that would be something!

73 Curt

PS Pat may have re-infected K1JAN with interest in the hobby also.

Curt-

Remember the touch-paddle keyer that I brought to Field Day (that you didn't
particularly like or couldn't adapt to)? The side-tone output could be fed
to a PC with MixW or GetCW or any other CW decoder program. It operates on
an internal 9V battery or 9V- to-14V wall wart.

Here are some links:

There are other communication devices available for the severely
handicapped, although very expensive, that sense eye-blinking and other
methods for communicating using computers.

Do we know if the "young lady" has enough dexterity to operate a paddle
keyer?
