Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 14 May 2007
Vice-President Gene Kern, KB3JHR, called the meeting to order at 7:44 PM. Twelve
members were present.
Announcements:
The RACES drills are on vacation for the summer; they will pick up again in
September.
The next CCARC meeting will be on Monday June 11 at the FTC.
The next BoD meeting will be on Wednesday May 23, 7:30 PM at the FTC.
>From the mailbag:
The club received an announcement about boating classes being offered in the
county; a notice about the Manassas Hamfest on June 3rd.
Secretarys Report:
Steve N3SB published the secretarys report to the clubs email reflector. The
report was accepted by the membership present.
Treasurers Report:
Tony KF3AK provided the treasurers report, detailing current balances, income,
and expenses. Tonys report was accepted by the membership present. Tony also
provided an amended report for April.
Board of Directors Report:
Gene provided a brief report about the Board meeting. The primary topic at the
meeting was budget preparation.
Committee Reports:
Field Day Committee: John W3JJH reported for the Field Day Committee. The
current plan is to operate at the Emergency Services Training Center in the QRP
Battery class. Of course the entire grounds are available if camping and
portable antennas are your thing. Bill N3WM has volunteered to chair a CW
Station, so along with the SSB, Digital and existing CW Stations, momentum is
starting to build! Visit www.k3pzn.org for all the latest Field Day news. John
thanked the folks who cleaned out the club station it looks great! Pat Kilroy
N8PK has volunteered to manage the bonus point activities, and will be
contacting other club members to help acquire those points. Keith W3MDC has
volunteered his callsign for the GOTA station.
DCS Committee: Chuck N3TOT reported. Eleven members of the group participated in
Hurricane Zephyr on April 26. The next DCS Committee will work on the
after-action reports. The May meeting will NOT be on the 28th, as thats
Memorial Day!
Repeater Committee: Steve N3SB visited the repeater site in April to reset the
440 MHz Packet Radio.
Membership Committee: Bill N3WM reported. Bill has caught up with the
maintenance of the roster, and has contacted all members with dues in arrears.

New Business:
None. Gene reminded all committees to get their budget requests into the Board,
so that the budgeting process can be completed.
Closing notes:
The Clubs KX-1 kit has had hit parts audited (theyre all there) and has been
passed to Tony KF3AK for the first stage of assembly.
Door prizes: Pete W3GVX won a flashlight, Steve N3SB won a vintage 2005 Field
Day shirt.
Vice-President Kern adjourned the meeting at 9:26 PM.
