Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 09 October 2006

Secretary Steve N3SB, called the meeting to order at 7:33 PM. Eighteen 
members and 2 guests were present.

Presentation:

Steve N3SB gave a presentation about ARES, and reviewed the results of the 
Carroll Comms Test.

Announcements:

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Wednesday 18 October, 
7:30 PM at the Fire Training Center. All members are welcome to attend.

The next club meeting is on Monday November 13, at the FTC

The Mason-Dixon Hamfest is coming up on October 29. If you are going to any 
hamfests within the next month and a half, please take fliers with you and 
distribute.

John W3JJH reminded the club that the Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is coming 
up on the weekend of October 21-22.

Phil KE3FL briefly presented some interesting ideas: an electronic keyer 
can double as a continuity checker. A UPS can be easily modified to become 
a smart battery charger. Phil also asked if there is interest in getting 
together to build J-Poles. He concluded with the comment that it's getting 
close to that time of the year to renew your ARES/RACES memberships, and to 
get photos taken if required.

 From the mailbag:

Bill W3STG reviewed the mail the club had received.

Secretary's Report:

Steve N3SB published the secretary's report to the club's email reflector. 
The report was accepted by the membership present, with one modification 
made to the treasurer's report history by Bill W3STG.

Treasurer's Report:

Bill W3STG briefed the treasurer's report for the month. There were no 
expenses, and no income other than interest. The report was accepted by the 
membership present.

Board of Directors Report:

Steve N3SB briefed the club on the highlights from the September Board of 
Directors Meeting.

Committee Reports:

Bill W3STG briefed the club on plans for the Mason-Dixon Hamfest.

Chuck N3TOT announced that the DCS Committee will meet on Monday 
23-October, 7:30 PM at the FTC.
