Hi John,
What do you need to know. Looking at the manual for
the AL-572 and the Pro II to me it's obvious what to
do. Hook the alc cable from the Pro II to the
amplifier. The amplifier likely is set to output an
ALC voltage from 0-10 volts and the Pro II accepts 0-4
volts. Therefore you must set the ALC limit on the
amplifier to a max of four volts. Follow the book on
this but the easy way is to load up for maximum output
of the linear without the ALC cable connected but a
voltmeter connected to the AL-572 ALC jack. Adjust the
drive on the Pro II to get maximum output from the
amplifier and then adjust the ALC set for four volts.
The front panel ALC set should be set to about an
indicated 18volts which is I think 180 ma grid
current.
This matches the amplifier to the Pro II ALC
requirements. To set the ALC adjust the drive from the
proII to the point of maximum power output and note
the grid current. Then set the ALC set to start the
turnback at about 20 ma less grid current than that.
In otherwords is maximum output occurs at 160 MA then
set the ALC set for about 140 MA. The best way is to
look at it on a monitor scope but If you don't have
one then do the above.
