Carroll County Amateur Radio Club
Meeting Minutes, 12-June 2006

President John Hart, K3KWO, called the meeting to order at 7:34 PM. 
Eighteen members and no guests were present.

Our speaker is Bill Neeriemer, W3STG. Bill presented material to prepare 
the members for taking the IS-100 exam, and provided copies for everyone 
present. After the presentation, Bill answered questions from the members 
while they reviewed the exam material.

Announcements:

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Wednesday 21 June, 7:30 
PM at the Fire Training Center. All members are welcome to attend.

The next club meeting is on Monday July 10, here at the FTC

Members are encouraged to pick up some hamfest flyers and distribute them 
at upcoming hamfests.

Larry WX3F announced that he would be resigning from maintaining the 
repeater systems, and resigning from his position as EC for Carroll. He is 
being sent out of the country on an extended work assignment with the 
National Guard.

Larry also mentioned that Chuck N3TOT and he supported a bike ride near the 
Eastern Shore. Communications were fortunately uneventful. Chuck's new 
VHF/UHF radio and antenna are a big improvement from last year.

Chuck N3TOT reported that the MADXRA club would be holding a dinner on 
Wednesday 14-June.

No mail was available.

Secretary's Report:

The secretary's report was briefed by Steve N3SB. The report was approved 
as submitted to the CCARC email reflector, by the membership present, with 
no objections.

Treasurer's Report:

The treasurer's report was briefed by Bill W3STG. The report was approved 
by the membership present, with no objections.

Board Meeting Notes:

John K3KWO briefed the club on the topics covered at the last BoD meeting, 
which was primarily a discussion about the budget. Bill W3STG read some 
notes he had taken during the meeting. Field Day was also briefly 
discussed, with the Springfield Hospital Center being selected. Door prizes 
were discussed; Frank K3MTT is planning an order for a variety of small 
prizes. The board also discussed the possibility of transporting the van to 
hamfests, but concluded that it would be very difficult unless a vehicle 
trailer was available. The board also briefly discussed a new "Diamond 
Membership" option  more discussions to follow.

Committee Reports:

Field Day  Steve N3SB reported on behalf of John W3JJH, our Field Day 
Committee chairman. The list of positions needing filling was reviewed. 
Chuck N3TOT reported on the new Field Day location. We have a paved lot, 
and big, tall trees available.

New Business:

FY2006 Proposed Budget: Bill W3STG, CCARC Treasurer, presented the proposed 
budget. He reviewed the FY05 budget and actuals, and described the 2006 
line items in detail. The BoD motions that the club accepts the FY06 
budget. Seconded by Rob K1RH. The budget was approved by all members present.

Bill N3WM accepted the position of membership chairman, from the retiring 
chairman Bill W3STG.

Closing notes:

The brown bag door prize for this evening was won by John AK3Z. John found 
two prizes in the bag  books on APRS and Digital Communications.

President Hart adjourned the meeting at 9:54 PM.
