[K3PZN-List] Generator Update

Steve,

I will retry the compression test with some oil and see what happens. The
crank case oil still looks nice and clean. If we have a problem with the
rings or cylinder walls, I would expect the blow by to blacken up the oil
quickly.

I was thinking that the generator needed more exercise. However, I could
probably benefit from some as well.

Rob

Greetings Rob;

Thanks for having a look at the generator! I'm a little concerned about
the low compression in one cylinder. Hopefully it's not an indication of a
big problem, like bad rings.

A shot of oil in that cylinder and a repeat compression test would tell if
the rings are the issue. If it's a dirty valve then the compression
shouldn't improve.

There should be a manual on that generator in the club's file cabinet. I
know for sure that one exists.

Are you referring to the generator, or to us, when you mention "regular
exercise" ??

With a good tune up and regular exercise hand cranking may not be as
difficult as is has been.
