[K3PZN-List] And that's knot all...

John,

Those knots would be the granny, slipknot, self-untying, self-tangling,
totally untie-able, and hangman's noose. Actually, I flunked knot stuff at
Wood Badge but they said it was okay because I was only a dumb district
commissioner and only had to spend five nights a week at meetings, know how
to bring in more money, and give out vague and contradictory answers with a
straight face.

I use climbing knots and one called the fisherman's knot that is good for
tying off wire antenna insulators. Occasionally, I can tie a monkey's paw
if I knock out the monkey before I tie up his paw. Next time that you see
me, notice that I most often wear loafers or boat shoes, which aught to tell
you something. about my knot tying ability (or lack thereof). Oh, and the
last good knot that I tied was thirty years ago.

On the fashion consultant side of things, this year synthetics are out in
favor of natural fibers and PA-lease keep in mind that one should never use
white string after Labor Day. Contrary to what you may have heard or read
in Cosmo, orange is NOT the new pink and should be avoided as a color choice
for string. The new Spring String fashion colors are Light Pewter,
Sandalwood, Indigo Blue, Victory Red, White Diamond, Dark Gray Metallic and
Green Envy. Flourescent string is definitely a fashion faux paus (that's
French for El Mistako Grande).

My vast experience in concierging tells me to recommend satin ribbon that is
a complementary or contrasting color to the antenna wire. However, one must
always keep in mind that copperweld does corrode and one may find one's self
with a sickly green patina on the wire and a tie off bow that just does not
match.

Well, that's about it from your club's concierge and fashion consultant.
Please don't hestitate to seek out my opinion in future. I am, after all, a
Pillar of All Wisdom and Knowledge when it comes to these things.
