Charles,

Have you contacted Universal Radio for the service manual? (I would suggest
telephone rather than email.) They used to be available through them. I read
a message a while ago that said that the switching supplies or the power
amps were prone to damage, and I think that there even were some mods for
power supply transient suppression floating around. It looks like the CW
filters have been discontinued based on Universal Radio's web site:

http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/hamhf/1550.html

(Of course, you can also use the bandwidth control.) I don't know an
alternate source for filters. I've never seen them listed on ebay, although
I haven't looked very often.

Subject: [JRC] JST-245 with PSU fault

Hello All,

I recently obtained a couple of JST-245s one working and the other with a
PSU fault. I don't suppose anyone has any ideas as to what is likely to have
gone wrong! There
appears to be no cct diagram for the PSU in the user manual I have.

I would also like to get hold of a service manual for this radio and some CW
filters. Does anyone know of a source of suitable filters either JRC or
other makes?

Thanks in hope

- Charles
