Try using ECSS-USB or LSB mode and see what TT gives back - I think that's
what it is referring to.
I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that when receiving faint signals in
ECSS mode, the receiver might switch back and forth between the two sorts
(you might be able to simulate this by turning rf gain down some)
Let us know what you find out. I'm interested because I often reduce rf
gain to reduce fading in AM recovery modes in the 545. If you turn down RF
gain til the point where the S-meter just stops jumping around, I find the
AM audio gets more intelligable. This is something that could be
automatically added to a JRC control program...
