My Heath DX 100, DX100B and Apaches take the 110vac leads out to an octal socket on the rear of the chassis that activate the relay when the transmit switch is activated. I am not interested in push to talk at this time because this transmitter will only be used from time to time.

Again, I can put a pus to talk circuit in, but at present all I want to do is use the transmit switch. Any experience out there to be shared? 73, John, K5PGW

Hi John,

Some people who actually have a radio like yours may not read your
message because there is no subject. I have a robust computer system so
I am fearless. Two lashes with a wet noodle. Now that's out of the way.

I have a Johnson Viking *Ranger*. Kinda similar. There is what looks
like a ceramic xtal socket on the rear apron (of my Ranger). Don't plug
in an xtal if you have one like that. It's not an xtal socket. Well it
is. But it really isn't. It's the 110 or 125 Volts AC turned on by the
mode switch that you use to turn on your T-R relay. I hope this gets you
up and running. If your Viking ain't like my Viking..nothing lost.

By the way - I don't like that socket. There is no standard connector
that will work with it. I had to make my own. You are on your own with
that. Some hams replace it with something from Radio Shack - like a pair
of banana jacks/plugs.
