[Johnson] JOHN and BILL: relay control

Yes the relay control on most of the Johnson rigs uses a ceramic socket in the back
somewhat like an hc6u crystal socket.
OK it IS an hc6u crystal socket!

I had never seen the original cable for that relay, because most guys ended up losing it
or perhaps never having one and then having some lash up back there to go to the dow key
relay. Most of us wondered why they would use a crystal socket for this purpose. Well it is a
ceramic insulated socket which is great for high voltage.

I now have (for sale) a rare, original Johnson plug and cable assembly that locks into that
fitting. There is hardware that actually attached the cable to that socket so it can't get
knocked loose or inadvertantly pulled out. Really a cool design. This is the first I have ever
seen in many years of hamming, and I can send a picture if anyone is interested in it.
