I am pretty much a "leave it alone guy' when it comes to modifications =
and restoration. As a 'leave it alone guy', I prefer to leave equipment =
as is in general and just enjoy it as designed. Now the 'leave alone =
guy' does make exceptions, and I do add fuses under the chassis and add =
a 3rd wire AC plug and cable. I have a Ranger 1, Ranger II, Invader =
200, Courier, that all have the updated 3 wire AC connection. My =
Pacemaker and Navigator don't have the 3rd wire plug yet and I'm using =
the Pacemaker on the air at my risk. I make the AC changes for personal =
concerns . =20

I ran into an instance of carelessness on my part where I had removed =
the ground on either the Ranger or Valiant, and later had instance to be =
touching a grounded test instrumentor receiver and the ungrounded =
transmitter. I got a shock from it and was reminded of the potential =
difference between the two radio's. So I do the changes for my safety =
concern.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the guys leaving it alone and =
using the 2 wire plug and fuse setup. Just need to rely more on the =
single external ground connection. =20
