The T-Bolt linear is a fine amp ... I've one myself ... along with some
Apha's. Todays rigs can be turned down and, therefore, a T pad is not
needed to reduce the drive.
The problem with what you want to do is running low level AM through the
linear. This will give you ~350W of cxr, but the audio will suck. If you
drive a linear much harder than that, you risk killing it. I know that
todays amateurs with limited experience in electronic knowlege endorse low
level AM modulation ... but a Valiant will talk rings around a Ranger and a
T-Bolt using low level AM. Better yet, keep your eyes open for a Viking
500, or a Globe Chief or Globe King transmitter.
