Consider the fact that many QSO Party type contacts, at least on sideband, are with casual ops just tuning around. Many of them DO want a signal report "for the log". For the Wisconsin contest, I find it easier to just say "you're 59 in Lafayette County" rather than just give the QTH, which is the only exchange required there. Otherwise a fair number ask for a signal report anyway.

Ditto on NOT requiring a serial number, please! Name is a lot more interesting if you want to add something besides QTH.
