I use what is probably the most common mobile radio, an Icom 706 Mk II running 100 watts... you can tell it's me by the quirky "Icom" CW keying.... (using a W4RRY battery booster to get the Icom-required 13.5 volts when engine is off). Radio has a 500 Hz CW filter, and also a clearspeech speaker (which works fine as long as CW speed is over 12 WPM or so, othersise the heterodyme filter has time to kick in).
Best to run the 706 with the noise blanker OFF, as IMD is pretty bad with strong signals and the NB on. But the NB taks out ignition noise pretty well.
(In Indiana QSO party I used my K2-100 sitting next to the laptop, and it ran FLAWLESSLY on 11.5 volts and never missed a beat... the DSP and filters are much better than Icom's)
Keying with TR on an old Win 95 laptop, but the radio interface port was busted .... so only sending CW, no rig control or band reading... but with an Icom, TR tries to read the occasional garbage
Antennas... hamsticks on 20 and 40, Little Tarheel on 80 CW (no hamsticks available for 80 meters, and when I put a capacitive hat on a 75 meter hamstick it covered 80 meters fine.... and then detuned in the rain....)

>Here is a question for the list. Which radio were the mobile stations using, and how did they perform? And what were the base stations using?
