[ILQSO] logging

My solution for logging a portable/outdoor op? Last spring I picked up a
Toshiba T1000 laptop, circa 1990 ($5, what a deal!). It has a 4.7 MHz CPU,
a single 3 1/8" floppy, no HD, with DOS 2.0 built into its ROM. The display
is a non-backlit, monochrome half-VGA size LCD. The built-in NiCd battery
pack will run it for about 5 hours, but it draws only about 150 mA, so a
number of alternate power sources come to mind. The only negative is its
floppy drive only takes DD, not HD disks. I have to format the disks on an
old machine with Windows 95, as newer versions of Windows won't support the
format. There are plenty of DOS logging programs out there to chose from,
too. The think is built like a tank, and I don't worry about it getting
banged up in the field, like I would with my 'real' laptop.
There are a number of the old portable computers, like the Tandy model 100
that are perfect for this sort of use...
