Being a relative novice in mobile contesting (IQP 2x, INQP 1x, WIQP 1x) I do
it for the challenge of improving my score, generating some activity and
most of all to have some fun. Since I operate 99.9% SSB and go solo there is
no realistic chance of winning anything. I think there should be some sort
of bonus and/or separate category for a SOND (single op no driver) who makes
x QSO's from each county (Wisconsin offers 500 bonus pts for 12 Q's/county).
That said even with the most liberal of bonus structures is not going to get
me a winning certificate (due to the points differential for CW), though it
was very cool to get a certificate of participation from INQP last year
which prompted me to start planning to op in the their next QSO party.
And a plug if I may: The WI QSO party is this weekend - 1800Z March 14th -
0100Z March 15th, I'm planning on activating 8-12 counties 20 & 40 ssb, if
all goes ok. In this one I have NO chance of getting anything but I am
looking to have some fun and make some Q's.
