I know that there are some "feelings" about APRS being considered "self
spotting" but unless a station was using the 2 meter APRS frequency for the
QSO, I don't feel there is a problem. APRS does not broadcast frequency
information but location, direction, speed and elevation info that could be
used by others (like my wife) to know where I am. In this case, that info
could be used to generate additional contacts, which I supppose is not in
the spirit of the rules.
It really won't be an issue with me because most of my route is well outside
of any areas that have any APRS activity that could relay my position back
to the web.
thanks for the input
