The North Shore Radio Club will link its repeaters September 22 for the 8:00
p.m. net. Check in on the two meter repeater (147.345 MHz, +600 Hz., PL 107.2
Hz.) or the 440 repeater (442.075 +5MHz., PL 100.0 Hz.). However, please check
2-meters if you don't hear us on UHF. It's suggested that the operator pause
for about a second after keying the microphone to allow the linkage to pick up
the request to transmit, especially on the 440 band.
In addition to local traffic, and John Wass with the local hamfest and
American Radio Relay League (ARRL) news, the NSRC net includes the RAIN report and
AR Newsline. The RAIN report for this week is part two of Hap Holly's interview
with Rich Moseson, W2VU, CQ magazine Editor and CQ VHF magazine editorial
director. Rich talks about FCC Notice of Proposed Rulemaking docket WT 05-235 in
which Morse code would be dropped from the VEC testing program ... entirely...
and discusses just why the adoption of this NPRM would significantly stifle
growth in the U.S. Amateur Radio Service. Your comments regarding this proposal
need to be filed with the FCC no later than October 14. Editorial comment:
There are some who feel the FCC wants to eventually regulate Amateur Radio out
of existence. One gets that feeling when reading the text of this proposal. A
link to that text will be found on the Sites Mentioned page at rainreport.com.
Amateur Radio Newsline reports Ham radio and the Hurricane Katrina saga
continues as the NCVEC changes the schedule on the release of the new
Amateur Radio test question pools.
All licensed amateurs are welcome to check in. Check-ins are taken by net
control Marilyn, W9LUO, at the beginning of the net, between RAIN and Newsline,
and after Newsline.
73,
Marilyn Tschannen Gardner, W9LUO
North Shore Radio Club
