[ICOM] Icom 706 Mkll G ssb distortion on transmit

You did not mention if the radio is in a remote configuration.
If it is, you might check the connections on the cable at both ends and the retaining screw for the cable at the body of the radio for contamination.
I had the same problem and it was the retaining screw that had got corroded, cleaned it up and all was well again.

Hello All,     I have a 706 Mk ll G that has distortion on SSB transmit and low alc.tried several different Icom mic's but still has distortion on SSB output even when the mic gain is on 2. Has anyone had this problem ? any suggestions other than send it back to Icom, On SS here, funds limited, I sure could use some help here, thank you, 73.
