[ICOM] IC-271A Problem

The IC-X71 (271, 471, 1271) all use a lithium battery powered SRAM board
to store _BOTH_ freq memories _AND_ basic operating params for the logic
board like details needed to run the VCO, etc...

If you do it early you can "make before break" swap in another cell but
once it loses its mind, it is gone.

http://www.piexx.com/

makes a replacement that has the radio firmware in PROM and that only
stored programmable memories in SRAM. Has firmware for a bunch of
models, which it uses depends on jumpering.

My 271Hs (2), 471Hs (2) have the piexx "ICOMPROM" board, and one is on
the way for a new (to me) 1271.
