[ICOM] My 745

Hi, I have tried every Mode. Typically, I use RTTY and hit the Transmit button. I am aware that if the radio is in SSB, there will be NO output, unless there is mic audio. I do not have the FM Module and I know the radio will only receive AM. I also know that Icoms of this vintage had cap "issues". When my shop was pack up, I bought a nice 761 with the same problem. Turned out to be bad caps. Transistors were ok. I have the necessary test equipment (ESR testers, etc), (and thousands of new caps!), but I don't have the time.......I have a hot rod and motorcycle that are calling me as well!! ha ha Summer is here in the Sunshine State!

Ron; any radio that sits for 25 years or so is bound to have deformed
lectrolytic caps, oxide on the relay contacts or worse. Someone will
ystematically need to beginning with the power supply carefully go through it.

Hi. I have a 745 that I brought brand new. It has < 1 hour on transmit. (I
ave a LOT of other radios). ha ha

However, I recently went to use it and I have absolutely NO output. The 'red'
transmit" LED comes on, but nothing, any mode. The receiver, display and all
ther functions are perfect, as usual. Thinking it might just be the internal
eter circuit, I connected my Drake watt meter. Zip.
None of the "Meter" positions on the 745 does a thing, in xmit mode.

This radio has never transmitted into an open circuit and it is always
isconnected from the antennas.

Before I pull it off the desk and head for the repair benches, anyone have a
lue?

I did search the Icom "Knowledge Base" and the only thing close was a resistor
n the regular unit. However, that should give a dead receiver as
ell......Bloody 'crummy cap' problem?????

 Thank you!!
