[ICOM] IC-208H

Gary,

Your garage height 'problem' is the same as mine - a major dilemma.
As a result, I just ended up making and installing a custom NMO bracket at
the edge
of the tailgate, on the body side of a Ford Ranger. I did not want to drill
any holes.
The arrangement came up pretty good. This allows me a maximum antenna
height of
32". Maldol has a dual band 144/444 antenna that is 29". It is available
in both NMO
and UHF connector. The cable will be routed under the bed liner at the
upper part of
truck's bed/side

The bracket is 3/32 aluminum.

For the time being I will install an older 2m Kenwood. Once everything is
OK, I will
replace the radio with a dual band unit.

If you wish to consider a similar approach, I can take some pictures and
send them to
you.

Good luck,

73,

Mort NA6MA
