[ICOM] Icom 706 mic questions

        Yes, I have used a Ethernet patch cable as a mic extension for 
years, works fine its was not a shielded either. Uses a double female to 
connect the the mic to the Ethernet cable. Lots of failure possibilities 
but it works fine every day

        Depends on what you are trying to do. The mic element is always 
connected. So with a mic connected when ever PTT is closed in a voice 
mode that mic will pick up what it hears. Possible to have distortion in 
your transmitted audio, maybe transmit things you don't desire to do 
like music if you have it playing in the back ground.
I am unaware of any other troubles as I have never tried connecting two 
mics to my 706MKII and don't remember ever fielding telephone calls from 
those who have.
