Hi Adam,
I never knew where the suit came from. I did know is was a Icom Japan
issue not Icom America.
I do remember though the IC-751A having PBT reinstated.
I don't remember exactly if they ever put PBT back into the R-71A seems
they did before its production ended.
Don't remember Icom ever stopping production of the IC-735, its been a
long time ago but I was there during that period 1989 - 2001.
Yes the IC-765 was designed without PBT though W2ISB had a modification
to restore it. Several who did his modification were happy with the
results of it.
I remember the x75 series, they installed a data level in place of the
PBT tuning. The PBT can be restored in the x75 series or could.
It was not a simple jumper pull though as it required the pot to be
changed to a dual one and a filter added at least. I don't remember all
of the requirements.
Circuits, they can be hard to design.....at one time Uniden, through
company acquisitions which included patent rights, owned about every
signal scanning topology design in existence that was used in radio
receivers to stop them on an active signal. They also defended that
ownership a few times.
This is good for me, sure rattles the brain and memories. :) Makes me
wish I had written all of this information down during my 11 years.
I hope Eddy comes to a good resolution for his IC-751A.
