I should have added in my original post, I replaced the USB to Serial,
and the CT-17, so I am working with a good data change to the radio.
As a simple test, without the CT-17 connected to the radio, it
properly echoes back the commands sent from the computer. So I have
verified that part is all functional. I dread the thought of trying to
work with surface mounts, and I also hate to send the radio off for
repair (it is my only HF rig).
