I don't follow your comments, perhaps because I'm not familiar with whatever
it is you refer to that has "been shown in any number of previous
DXpeditions." I've worked TX5C so far on four bands on SSB, and I have not
observed the operators "sitting around waiting" for something. What is it
that is causing the AGC to rise above the level of the loudest calling
stations? And if they have to wait so long for AGC recovery, perhaps
they're just using an AGC time constant that's too slow? And, are the CW
ops using a different type of radio so they do not experience the effect?
