Hi Ed,

The IC-756Pro has no FM deviation adjustment as such; FM modulation and
demodulation are DSP processes.

Make sure that you have the [WIDE] FM IF filter selected. This will also
select 5 kHz peak deviation. The [MID] and [NAR] FM filters select 2.5 kHz
peak deviation.

You can leave the golden screwdriver safely stowed away!

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [ICOM] 746PRO low xmit audio FM

Got this thing used a couple months ago. Haven't paid much attention to FM
till now. Transmit audio is low. Receiving stations say I sound like I am
far away. They also comment on it sounding narrow. No complaints on SSB or
AM. I have to run the compressor to sound half way decent. I've adjusted the
mic gain, compressor level, TCN, and changed filter bandwidth. I don't have
a deviation meter. Nor do I know where the adjustment is for it. :) Kinda
sounds like that might be my problem. But I'd like to hear from some of the
experts out there. Before I look for my golden screwdriver.
