I have sort of answered my own question abt. being able to choose filters
[CW] in the 746. I have a .5 in socket 1 & a .250 in socket 2. Both are 9 mhz
IF.
If you run the radio in FIL screen you can press F2 and run thru all filters
in a second or two. The NAR button will only pick socket 1 running in M1 or
M2 screen. In FIL screen NAR button will still only pick socket 1. I leave
NAR off and use the F2 button. In FIL screen F2 will choose the various 9 mhz.
IF filters installed. F4 will pick 455 kc ones if you have those installed.
My 746 has the 2.4,.5 & .250 installed. The display shows a 15 kc one but it's
really the 2.4 .I think the 15kc one is an FM filter. If you want to run in
M1 or M2 just press MENU. To return to being able to select CW filters hold
FILTER button 2 seconds and you're back to FIL menu. Being a 90% cw guy it's
good for me. I have the ANF/APF set to APF M. I can choose to listen with the
radio in FIL screen using 2.4,.5,.250 or .160 width filtering
k9il
