Thanks for your note.  I have discovered over the years that the 775 is 
one of the best transceivers technically that Icom ever built, HOWEVER, 
the jewel needs some additional microphone input gain.

Here's the secret to making it come alive - big time. Use a little 50 
dollar Behringer UB 802 mixer/EQ/Preamp or one of the W2IHY 8 band EQ 
with the PR 40 in front and the 775 will be magnificent.
