[ICOM] FW: Icom Prices

My .05 cents

At one time for 5 years I owned a Ham/Communication store. We found that
on the average a ham is the most cheap/tightwad on the
Face of the earth. They would come in and ask all the questions
Then would buy mail-order just to save the sales tax. Then would bring
it back to us if something was wrong with the rig.

We now buy what we want and still gripe about it.

My 2 cents:
In 1980 I purchased the complete Drake TR-7/DR7 line on the employee
purchase program and it still set me back over $3000.00. Today, you can
buy
the IC-756Pro III and a very nice amp for the equivalent currency. My
Collins gear would amount to tens of thousands of dollars at today
prices if
it was "state of the art" due to inflation alone. Given these examples
I
feel that current market pricing is fair, and many hams today make high
5
figure and up salaries and can thus more easily afford these rigs.

Very open to comment and criticism, just remember this is just an
opinion.
