Very likely that's the problem, if you still have power. In my case, I
suspect excessive heat build up has caused the failure of the
2SC2307/NTE2308 (s). I had replaced them about 10 years ago, probably for
the same reason. No one locally has them in stock so I have to order them
in and it will take a couple of weeks to get them to me from Toronto.

Most of my problem stems from forgetting to change antennas in quick band
switching as well as high SWR on my G5RV (which I will replace this summer
with some real wire antennas).

Good luck.

I have an IC761 which has a problem in the power supply shutting down under
load.
Appears to be suppplying voltage under no-load. Wasnt sure if XCVR problem
or powersupply but connected external supply to radio and worked ok. I hope
I have found the problem in a faulty transistor 2SC2501 either Q2 or Q3(not
sure which one), would appreciate an opinion as to the likelihood of this
causing the problem, multimeter says it has C-E short, will try and get a
new one for it tomorrow. No sign of any corrosion in mine when opened.
