Alan,
Be sure to check the current shunt resistor. It appears to be a flat bar
about 1.5 inches long and 1/4 inch wide. That fault you have many times
is caused by cracked solder joints at the current shunt. The repair is
to remove it, clean up the old solder and resolder it. Do not overflow
the shunt with solder as you will change the resistance value.
