Hi Julio:
          I understand your point of operating with the compression off and reducing mic gain to lower power out and will experiment with that to see how it works.  I am new to the radio and thus unfamiliar with the controls, simple as they may be.  Would seem to be better if it had a separate push button for the compression and the power control set in a linear fashion like the rest of my radios.
