Now really think about what the odds would be of that really happening in the real world when most hams
follow the rules and more and more public service is on 800 mhz or another band/mode that the rig cant
operate on. Then someone would have to prove that you actually did the mod. One can really worry and think
on something too much. You could say , What if you put a switch in it for utility ops and then the new
owner switches it back on or says that you sent it too him with the rig switched on for utility ops. What
if the new owner does the mod and if he got caught says that the previous owner did the mod ? Thers no end
to it. To really be safe one may just keep the rig until you die or do the self distruct thing like US
Special Forces do to there radios before they fall into other hands. They use C-4 but a good 25lb sledge
hammer will do the trick just as good. Sorry Dick , Randy N5WV

Hey Clete et al .... I never heard of this ever before, so way curious where
that information is documented ????
"Now you are responsible if some
unauthorized person does just that, transmit on a frequency that they
shouldn't be. You run a great risk if you pass the radio on to someone
else later. Perhaps you'll want to trade it or whatever sometime."
