Sir,

I also seem to have a problem with an IC 706 MK II G. Yesterday the radio
worked just fine. The radio has been modified for MARS operations. Over 90
% of the time, the RF power setting is at or below 8 (approximately 80
watts HF SSB). The power is from an Astron supply. A measurement this
evening at the power out of the supple showed about 14.16 vdc. A check on
each of the pins of the radio end of the power cable gave the same reading.
I had thought a possible blown fuse in the power line. The weather here
today has been clear, no storms or lightening. The Astron power supply will
turn on as it should. But the 706 does nothing when the power button is
pressed. Still nothing when the power button and any combination of other
buttons/keys are pressed at the same time on power on. I have the owners
manual but not the service manual. Before there is too much damage done to
this radio, where should I start looking and what should I be looking for?

Thank you,
Jim Good KD5VXH
