Corrected message, Thanks Bill for pointing that out. Yes you should
not jumper
the PTT to the MIC audio ground. I was a bit hasty with my explanation.
I used to have good luck by placing a small jumper between the PTT ground and
Mic
Audio ground. They are separate in the rig and most of the Mic's. I
used a piece
of 1/4 watt resistor lead for the jumper. I would instruct users to
install that
jumper in the mic connector on the end of the mic cord.
That worked very well for IC-735's when operating mobile as RFI seemed to be a
common issue. One might try doing the same thing on the SM-6
